Atlanta Day 5 - The Championship
Well today we started with the complimentary breakfast then got to the homework.
I know our room got lots of stuff done. So it was time well spent. Around noon-ish we were
starting to expect that we'd be going soon. We went to lunch at a sandwich place across the street, then
came back and got ready to go downtown.
Eventually (around 2:30) we left for the city. We went to the historic part
of town where Marin Luther King Jr. grew up. We had worksheets to fill out to
prove that we learned. I learned lots. We also went to the MLKJr. museum. My brain
is exploding with knowledge!
Afterwards we split up and some of us went to the Georgia Dome and the rest went back
to the hotel. I happened to go to the Dome. We were driving around the Domage area for
a long time. First we went under the Dome, then we turned around and went back
to where we came. Then we drove around for a while and made it to the back enterance
where all of the robots are unloaded. That was the wrong place once again so we drove
away and saw Dave Lavery (Program Executive for Solar System Exploration for NASA)
driving towards us on a Segway, but our car didn't stop.
We finally drove around to the *front* of the GWCC (who would have thought of that?)
and found out that's where we are supposed to go. We brought everything inside and
Dave P., Mohsin and Joel went to uncrate. Steve, Aruj, Matt D., and myself went to explore
the grounds. We were happy to see our friends "Where's Waldo?" trying to figure out
"Where's Enterance?" We pointed them in the right direction. Then we took a picture of ourselves
in front of the giant FIRST sign.
Eventually we met up and went back to the hotel where the second group of people who left this morning
showed up. We planned the schedule for tomorrow and we are going to be leaving the hotel at 7:00 AM sharp.
In the evening we will be going to the Canadian Consolate and then going out for dinner as a team.
May the championship begin!
