LIVE UPDATES FROM ATLANTA

(refresh) - (video; 772 is on Curie)

Saturday, April 29th, 2006

11:59PM - To wrap things up, the Sabre Bytes were not chosen by any of the alliances, and so we spent the remainder of the competition watching the finals. Afterwards, we went to the team social for two hours and watched the fireworks, finally returning to the hotel at ten o'clock. Most of us will be leaving the hotel at six tomorrow morning, and arriving home at around seven at night.
10:42AM - Another loss, but a wild game. Four out of the six robots tipped over! 772 was one of them, the first time we ever fell over. Alliance choices will be around 11:30AM.
10:04AM - Although we lost our first match of the day 61 to 58, it was a very close game. We have one more qualifying match, which is supposed to be soon.

Friday, April 28th, 2006

3:55PM - We're supposed to have a total of eight qualifying matches, so we'll probably have one or two more today, and the rest tomorrow. There's an ice cream social at the GM tent at five o'clock tonight.
3:51PM - The fourth match was a close one - 33 to 46, but ultimately our side lost. We only had two robots.
2:04PM - The third match is a loss, 48 to 124.
11:59AM - Our second match resulted in a win, 45 to 26! Currently, we have one win and one loss. Lunch is coming up and our next match is at two o'clock, straight up.
11:05AM - We lost our first match - 81 to 60. One of The Twins was on the opposing side.
8:35AM - Woody Flowers and Dean Kamen!
8:29AM - We made it to the dome for eight o'clock. There was a robot parade just a bit earlier, the marching band music from which is still playing. Opening ceremonies start in two minutes.
1:07AM - Of our three practice rounds, we showed up with our robot for two of them. Deniz reports that the shooter has been changed, is working a lot better, and is more consistent. He also says that we will now be trying stationary autonomous, since new rules state you cannot be rammed in your starting position. Therefore, if we are able to achieve a consistent autonomous, it'll be much better than before. Finally, there have been some Internet sightings, so hopefully more updates will be on their way, sooner.

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

11:57PM - No luck finding Internet yet. Today, every round is a practice round, and 772 is up first in the Curie division. We're not up again until 11:50.
9:42AM - We didn't actually go up with our robot, but we showed up to lob some balls onto the field. Kristen and Matt both confirm that the robot is undergoing a replacement of its shooter wheels.

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

11:57PM - We all arrived safely in Atlanta! Not much to report, other than that we're settling in fine. Tomorrow, we head off to the dome for the practice rounds of the Atlanta championship event!
