5:46PM - Here are some photos from our last match today.

4:40PM - We won the Xerox Creativity Award! This is the first award we've won for our robots! The award ceremony is over now. The team social is at six o'clock. Stay tuned tomorrow for all the nitty-gritty on the finals!
3:48PM - We just won our last match of the day, 46 to 79! The final match just finished as well, so there will be an awards ceremony shortly. We're in eighth place!
3:11PM - Oh, Aruj should be on his way up to the competition right now.
3:10PM - Blizzard (188) and Ramrod (1901) are up together right now. Go teams!
3:06PM - By the way, our match is forty-one, and there are forty-two today.
3:05PM - A bit more than half an hour until our last match of the day.
3:02PM - 25 to 68: That's the score of that last match - in our favour! To be fair, though, the opposition only had one bot. Anyway, we're in tenth place now.
2:54PM - Alright, we're up!
2:50PM - We're up after this match. It'll be our second last match today.
2:47PM - Some photos from match number twenty-four.

2:38PM - We're also in fifteenth place, which puts us in the top half.
2:37PM - So incredibly close! The score was 44 to 43, in the other team's favour. This is the second time today we've lost by a point, and the fourth time we've played with only two robots on our side.
2:34PM - Oh man, what a match! We only had two, the competition fell over, we got pinned on the ramp, and the score was really close! The suspense!
2:27PM - Karthik just got word that team 233 got a high score of 132 in Boston! Our next match will begin in just a minute.
2:19PM - Thanks to that game, the Sabre Bytes shot up to seventeenth place!
2:17PM - Sixty-seven to twenty-nine! We won! Awesome match! We're up again in three matches.
2:05PM - Cool, we're up in a second!
1:55PM - Thank you, teams, for using the most easily-recognizable way to start audience fanfare: Running around with a sign that reads DO THE WAVE.
1:48PM - They just randomly played the song Rawhide.
1:47PM - We find ourselves currently in twenty-second place.
1:42PM - No penalties, actually, but a losing score of 29 to 45.
1:40PM - An okay match - we launched some balls successfully at first, but for most of the game we had a problem. Uh oh, sounds like penalties!
1:35PM - We're taking to the field! The match is about to begin . . .
1:31PM - Match twenty-two gave us the new Waterloo regional high score of 128 points. For stats buffs, the current Aim High! best is 137; the highest for Triple Play last season was 125.
1:29PM - We're now in twentieth place. Of note, in the previous match, we once again played the smaller side of a two-on-three match, and also got most (all?) of the points for our side. Match number twenty-three is being set up right now, and we are in match twenty-four.
1:19PM - Tough luck! Regardless of penalties, we still lost - twelve to ten. Next match: twenty minutes.
1:16PM - A close game - it doesn't look to be in our favour, but we're waiting on the scores.
1:10PM - Here we go!
1:08PM - Match nineteen - we're up next.
12:49PM - Amber and I (Fil) just picked up today's edition of the Imprint, the student-run University Of Waterloo newspaper, and saw that there's an article on the robotics competition. Two notable lines: "The robot: universal dance move, or outlet for scientific genius?" as well as "The objective is clear: to build a robot that can successfully rage against the other machines." In other news, lunch ends in about ten minutes.
12:00PM - Back to fifteenth place. Lunch time, back to games at one!
11:59AM - Lunch is in two short minutes . . . one more match to go.

11:37AM - Back in the pits, 772 is helping out 771.
11:36AM - Matt Branoff, our driver, sends this message out to one Mr. Mayo: "Do the right thing!"
11:34AM - Three more matches until lunch. They're playing very upbeat music!
11:30AM - We dropped to twelfth place.
11:30AM - Quarter after twelve: Women Of FIRST photo.
11:23AM - That last match put us in tenth place overall!
11:22AM - Blue wins, 11 to 23! This means the Sabres have more wins than losses now. We don't play again until after lunch. Our next match is at quarter after one.
11:21AM - Scores haven't come up yet, but team 1246's robot, as opposition, fell on us at the last minute!
11:15AM - Alright, here we go!
11:11AM - Correction, we're up after this match.
11:10AM - Mr. Mitrovski brings more information to the table: We are so far the only team to score a perfect "four" in safety!
11:07AM - We're in fifteenth place, and we're just going up again!
10:57AM - We won! Score: 24 to 85.
10:55AM - Looks like it was two of us blues to three of those reds. Waiting on the score.
10:49AM - Looks like we're up!
10:33AM - The match chart is now up. Match six begins momentarily, and again, we're number eight.
10:22AM - Our next match is at around ten to eleven.
10:21AM - We were on the red alliance, and we lost 11 to 27, originally 16 to 42 before offside penalties.
10:14AM - Let the game begin!
10:12AM - Match two has ended, and we're taking to the field for our first match.
10:02AM - The first match has ended, and everyone is looking good! The Sabres' first match is the third one of the event, which is in about ten minutes.
9:56AM - The anthems just now. Get ready - here's the first match!
9:49AM - The Aim High! video. With a different narrator, curiously.
9:48AM - Enter the referees and safety inspectors.
9:46AM - Words from an honorable guest speaker from Kitchener.
9:42AM - Sabres have spirit, yes they do! And now the Dean and Woody video.
9:39AM - Karthik is back! And here come the judges!
9:30AM - The opening ceremonies should be starting any time now.
9:13AM - The pits close at six tonight - the team social is from then until nine o'clock.
9:10AM - Here we are! The first day of matches. As always, we do qualifying matches today, finish them up tomorrow morning, and run through the finals. Again, a few members from each team are on the field to hear about the latest rules and tweaks. The opening ceremonies start in twenty minutes, and matches at ten o'clock.

5:17PM - Well, we'll be leaving momentarily, surely. More updates later tonight if interest permits. Don't miss tomorrow's news as we charge into battle in the first day of matches (the ones that count)!
5:12PM - We're sort of hanging around. They're vacuuming the field.
4:31PM - Check out what the whole field and surround area looks like by clicking here.
4:26PM - This concludes our last match for the day.
4:24PM - We're launching balls and scoring!
4:23PM - We're up now, though! Also, Matt Davidson reports us to be leaving around six, and the late-stayers at eight.
4:19PM - We're up, but for some reason our bot is not on the field . . . Sarah is still acting as the human player.
4:04PM - Six robots on the playing field - the first time today.
4:02PM - Pits open tomorrow at 8:30AM, opening ceremonies are at 9:30, and the games begin at ten!
3:17PM - We're up right now! Second last practice match of the day.
2:26PM - We have two more matches today - the next of which is coming up in four matches' time.
2:14PM - Apparently Dante didn't know what lol stands for!
2:09PM - The Internet died for a while. We had two more practice matches. Not a ton is happening, but we're building and cheering.
12:02PM - Two practice matches have been played so far. We're a bit overweight, but that's being worked on. It's lunch now.
11:39AM - How about some photos from the morning?

11:05AM - A couple of us are lounging in the, well, lounge. Nice place. The social was here last year.
10:30AM - Team 188 just came around, collecting money for starving children. In unrelated news, Kristen found a DDR machine!
10:23AM - Back to the pits with the bot. Others are now using the field - another one-on-one.
10:20AM - But we're shooting lots of balls in!
10:19AM - A second round. Hmm, we didn't shoot any balls this time on autonomous.
10:18AM - Our robot's working well. Second round now.
10:14AM - Here we go! We got a ball in during autonomous! It's a one-on-one practice match.
10:09AM - The robot's going out onto the field right now. Thanks Reid.
10:08AM - Our team number's been on display on the blue side of the field since we walked in. Our pit persons just pushed the robot over to the waiting area.
10:03AM - The congregate has broken up.
9:53AM - Pep talk still going. They're going over all the reasons a robot might stop working in the middle of a game.
9:48AM - Representatives from each team have gathered just at the side of the field. They're getting a bit of a pep talk. Apparently they get walkie-talkies.
9:02AM - Peter Neilson from LaSalle Dental, one of our platinum sponsors, wishes the best of luck to the team!
8:54AM - We're in the stands! People are pretty much wandering around aimlessly at the moment. The stands are still as precarious as ever.
7:00AM - Seven in the morning! We're departing from the hotel around half past. Here's hoping for good Internet at the University.
Wednesday, March 22nd, 2006
7:35PM - We've arrived at the one, the only, Holiday Inn. We're settling in and all that good stuff. Tomorrow is practice!
